With less restrictions in July, we can’t wait to dust off our BBQ set and get friends and family over to celebrate!
But ‘working from home’ doesn’t mean we’re any less busy, right? In fact, for those Mums and Dads juggling childcare with work during lockdown, stress levels have probably hit an all-time high.
To help, we’ve put together 3 quick and easy recipes to go with your burgers and sausages, so you can spend more time relaxing and less time prepping.

1. Potato Salad
A classic BBQ side but with so many recipes online, it’s difficult to know where to start. We think simple is best and if you’re stuck for time, this recipe is ideal. Everyone knows mayonnaise is the key ingredient anyway.
Recipe:
Bag of small potatoes (new or baby potatoes)
2/3 tbsp mayonnaise
8 spring onions
Boil the potatoes until tender and then cut each one in half. Trim off the ends of the spring onions, halve them lengthways and then finely slice. Chuck everything into a big bowl and add in the mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste.
2. Nachos
Not your traditional BBQ dish but who doesn’t love Mexican food? It’s also a great excuse to eat loads of cheese. Sold.
Recipe:
1 jar of salsa
1 bag of tortilla chips
Good chunk of grated cheddar cheese
Tip the tortilla chips into a baking tray, pour over the salsa and sprinkle the grated cheese. Pop the tray under a hot grill for 3 mins (or until the cheese is melted) and you’re ready to go. Serve it up with soured cream or guacamole (optional).
3. Chocolate Baked Bananas
Of course, it wouldn’t be right to have a BBQ without something sweet to finish off! This recipe tastes amazing without all the fuss of having to make something.
Recipe:
4 ripe bananas
2 bags of chocolate buttons
Vanilla ice cream to serve
Make a slit down the bananas (without cutting them in half) and add in some chocolate buttons. Wrap them in tin foil and place them on the BBQ for 15 mins or in the oven for 25 mins (200C/180C fan). Serve with ice cream.
