Release the Kraken! The rum we love…

‘To not respect the power of the Kraken is to not respect the sea.’

Named after the mythical sea creature, Kraken Black Spiced Rum is nothing short of a beast.

What’s the tale?

Kraken is a contemporary Caribbean black spiced rum, having only been introduced to the market in 2010. Stories say that a ship that had been carrying one of the largest amounts of black spiced rum to ever be transported from the Caribbean islands never reached its destination. Many interpret the reason as being an attack by the Kraken, but no confirmations have been made on such suspicions. Barrels containing the rum drifted ashore from the ship and the drink was then renamed after the Kraken as tribute to its might. Not many have lived to tell the tale of the legendary Kraken, but this spiced rum did.

How’s it made?

The base rum of Kraken is from Trinidad, giving it that unique Caribbean flavour. It is distilled there using naturally sweet molasses all from locally-grown sugar cane. That rum is then aged for a year to two years before being blended with an exotic variety of spices– 13 to be exact, including cinnamon, ginger, and clove. The result is this beloved black spiced rum, incredibly rich and smooth with a 40% ABV. It is then packaged in its distinctive, aesthetically pleasing Victorian bottle and distributed. It is said that the Kraken then supplies Drinkly with its stock, so if you order from us, you’re actually ordering from the beast itself.
