Ooo it’s all about the wine again this week, purely red this time, and we’re so excited to share the latest additions to our wine collection!
We’re starting off with a wine from the far-off lands of Argentina; Susana Balbo’s 2019 Crios Malbec. Fermented at 28°C, this hand-harvested red has been oak aged in third and fourth-used French barrels, giving is a deep and rich flavour. With aromas of mocha, cherries and violets, its juicy tannins and well-balanced acidity, the Malbec makes for the ideal accompaniment for tuna steak and spring lamb: perfect for the up-coming season!
Heading back to Europe for this next one; Schola Sarmenti’s guyot trained Critèra Primitivo. This handpicked, by us and the growers, wine is a bold red, oozing gentle aromas which is typical of the precious grape used to make it. Pleasantly fresh with tantalising tannins and bursting with flavour, this wine wonderfully compliments a meaty pasta dish or beef steak: superb for this cold weather.
And lastly, we’re adventuring to Cape Agulhas, South Africa for the Lomond Shiraz Mourvedre Viognier blend (SMV). This spicy, warm, full bodied red promotes homely flavours of cloves and vanilla, with chocolate, pepper and red fruit following. We’d recommend this delicious wine be paired with a chilli con carne or smoky barbecued meats, such as ribs. Oh, so good!
That’s all for this week, folks. As always, stay well, stay safe and we look forward to serving you soon.
